Connective Tissue (CT) - CT is a web which connects everything to everything within the body. CT within each cell is contiguous, through the cell wall, with CT surrounding the cell. Each cell is connected to those around it by a web of CT. Bundles of cells connect to other bundles and to tendons and ligaments, which are also CT. From the micro to the macro CT defines the shape of the body and links it all together. CTs Role - Connective tissues most important role is to attaches and to link, it is sticky. When the body is functioning fluidly and flexibly the CT bonds align with the larger purpose of the structure that it is a part of and support the efficient functioning of the whole organism. Injury - Through injury, repetitive mis-use, or dis-use the CT can adhere in ways that limit or even disable the structures that it is a part of. We then often disconnect from those stuck structures and loose our awareness of how to enliven them with movement. This can cause further constriction and loss of healthy functioning. This cycle, if not interrupted, often then leads to the structure becoming so constricted and immobile that it becomes inflamed or diseased. My Role - My role then is to bring a sensitive knowledgeable touch in to break that cycle of dysfunction, disconnection, and immobility. I can help awaken you to those places within you where you have lost your healthy awareness. I can help you realign your CT, release those stuck places, and to become more mobile and more fully alive. |
